Revamping outdoor space at Wexham Park Hospital

In 2019, Aaron and the team at Hodgson Construction were the driving force in revamping a dull, wasted space at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough and transforming it into a beautiful garden space for patients receiving treatment for terminal cancer. It had been the dying wish of a patient at the hospital to see the space transformed for patients where they could feel safe, but not ‘ feel like a patient’.

Whilst fundraisers raised money, Aaron worked behind the scenes to mobilise colleagues and contacts in the industry to donate time and materials to make the wish come true. The result was an overwhelming contribution of building materials, plants, sensory equipment, furniture and of course, a lot of manpower, to complete the project.

Eden Garden opened Sept 2019

The resulting garden space, now known as the Eden Garden, was opened in September 2019, and is now makes a huge difference to patients and their families, offering a sanctuary for people who have cancer to spend time in the fresh air away from the ward. The accessible space is filled with colourful planting, artwork, indoor and outdoor seating, which will improve the quality of the patients care experience.

Hodgson Construction is keen to stay involved with the local community and is happy to talk to anyone who may have a charitable project they could be involved with.
