Giving time out of the business

As owner of Hodgson Construction, I have always pushed myself out of my comfort zone!

I am a great advocate for challenging yourself and doing things that make you feel uncomfortable.

Last week I spent some time at the Green Room School in Windsor, (this is a school for young people who are unable to access mainstream education for a variety of reasons). I never enjoyed my time at school and was always itching to get into work, so going back into a classroom, standing up at the front and delivering a presentation on my journey into work, was very uncomfortable! To me, it felt like a car crash.

But the feedback made it all worth it:

“In this week’s session, our students were inspired by Aaron Hodgson, the owner of Hodgson Construction, who shared his journey from humble beginnings as a bike mechanic to establishing his own motor repair business and venturing into property development. Aaron’s story encapsulated the power of perseverance, self-reflection, and seizing opportunities.

He reminded us that with dedication and a commitment to excellence, dreams can indeed become reality. Hodgson Construction believes that ‘if you can dream it, you can build it’ Aaron is a true champion of this philosophy.

Aaron’s message resonated deeply, serving as a beacon of inspiration and a testament to the transformative power of hard work and determination. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Aaron for his motivational talk, which left an indelible mark on us all.”

These young people are often hard to reach, as their experience of education to date, may not have been the most appropriate to meet their needs and the program I joined last week, asks people from the workplace to come in and inspire these young people by sharing their own journey.
